Volkswagen’s new $1 billion assembly plant is bringing jobs and investments beyond Chattanooga to other areas of Tennessee. Roane County, about 90 minutes from Chattanooga, has been selected for a $40 million VW distribution center.
Volkswagen recently joined General Motors and Nissan in building new vehicles in Tennessee, part of the automotive ecosystem that employees 105,000 people and generates a payroll of more than $5.5 billion.
