Alternative energy is a top industry in the Chattanooga Area. Bradley County is home to a $1 bllion plant operated by Germany-based Wacker Chemie AG that produces polysilicon to make solar panels, and Alstom, a leader in nuclear power production, operates a turbine plant in Chattanooga.

 

An array of companies throughout the 22-county SEIDA region are embarking on renewable energy initiatives.

From installing sustainable infrastructure to experimenting with alternative energy sources, the 22-country region that encompasses Southeast Tennessee, Northern Georgia and Southwest Carolina is getting greener every day.
