Deals for a data center, a customer service center and a manufacturing headquarters top the week’s site selection, job creation and expansion news:
In Texas, Arista Data Centers plans to build a $210 million data center campus in Pflugerville in the Austin area The project is expected to bring at least 170 jobs to the community within 10 years, each with at least $67,500 annual salary.
In Georgia, State Farm opening a new customer service center in 400,000 square feet at the recently leased Atlanta Perimeter Operations Center located near Perimeter Mall. The insurer plans to create an estimated 500 new jobs.
In South Carolina, Cummins Inc. is expanding its Turbo Technologies operations in Charleston County with a $19.5 million investment that is expected to generate 76 jobs. Cummins Turbo Technologies designs and manufactures turbochargers for diesel engines. As part of the expansion, Cummins is building a 125,000-square-foot warehouse.
In the Charlotte USA region, MSC Industrial Direct Co. Inc., one of the largest direct marketers and premier distributors of metalworking and maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) supplies to industrial customers, will establish co-headquarters in Davidson. The company plans to create 400 jobs in North Carolina by the end of 2017, and invest more than $31 million into its Mecklenburg County facility.
Also in North Carolina, GKN Driveline will invest $24 million on expansion of its production facility in Person County. The manufacturer of automotive driveline components will create an estimated 131 jobs over the next five years.
Another food production company is coming to Kentucky. Preston Farms Popcorn and The Curehouse will begin operations in Louisville, creating a total of 61 jobs and investing more than $5.3 million in the state. Preston Farms Popcorn is utilizing a 22,000-square-foot facility in Louisville to pack and sell microwaveable popcorn to private labels.
