Research Partners: Western Kentucky University, Owensboro EDC Team Up

Western Kentucky University and Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corp. have formed an economic development partnership creating Owensboro-based applied research programs in plant biotechnology and food science with lab space at the Centre for Business and Research where full-time WKU-Owensboro faculty can successfully interface with existing companies and to help foster new startup companies in the region.

CK Technologies, a major supplier to the commercial truck and bus market, is building a manufacturing facility for interior, exterior, and functional (under-the-hood) assemblies in Brownsville, Texas. The new facility involves a capital investment in excess of $20 million and is expected to create 121 jobs during 2011.
