Picking the Right Site for Green Development

Energy: Renewable solar panel silhouette

The growth of the clean and green energy sector has more site selectors on the lookout for locations suited to sustainable enterprises. What kind of sites in your community are prime spots for green development? According to Mumbai-based architect Sibani Chakravarty, the best sites:

•Encourage walking instead of driving

•Provide established infrastructure (utilities, roads, etc.)

•Have room to increase in density

•Offer good solar exposure

Once a spot is chosen and the construction phase begins, the integrity of the site should be preserved by development that maintains the land’s hydrologic functions, reduces stormwater runoff and preserves existing trees.
